Under our Institutional Strategic Plan 2018-2028 (Second Phase 2023-2028), HKBU has designated Best Student Experience, Research Excellence, Capacity, and Knowledge Transfer as strategic priorities.
Our sustainability outreach activities engage the local community through Service-Learning Courses, Social Innovation Projects, and Citizenship and Community Engagement, alongside our daily operations.
With a target of achieving carbon neutrality for Scopes 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2044, HKBU has developed coordinated strategies spanning various aspects of campus life. Our efforts have been recognised with the Silver Award in the Public and Community Services category at the 2023 Hong Kong Awards of Environmental Excellence. We are proud to be part of a community dedicated to carbon neutrality.
Our social impact is further evidenced through research excellence and knowledge transfer that address real-world challenges. The Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research, and the Knowledge Transfer Office, connects academic innovation and industry applications across our four research clusters, namely Creative Media/Practice, Health and Drug Discovery, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in X (where X denotes applications such as journalism, business and finance), and Humanities and Cultures.
